I was luckier than you, Although I wouldn't call it cheap - with all the bells and whistles, it cost me over £800! I did actually get my laptop and have been using it for 2 years really without any problem. Early last week, it went belly up on me and my computer guy says he can't get a replacement mother board for it so I've had to order a new laptop. No Savastore for me this time. I've ordered a Toshiba from my Uni website. That at least has a 3 year warranty.

I complained to Savastore when they delivered the laptop because it was delivered to a neighbour - just as well she was honest. They just ignored me - trying to get hold of Customer Service is just a joke. Be warned, anyone who's thinking of buying from them - don't!

I also purchased an Aries laptop - it had a very good review in a computer magazine, and the price was reasonable. After much delay (their webiste stated that stock was available within 1-2 days) I received the laptop. Within 5 days it failed completely - it died, no power, nothing. I contacted Watford (this can only be done via their website) and was told to return the unit. To return the unit and to comply with distance selling regulations this is the responsibility of the retailer, and watford arranged a courier collection. So far so good, but despite e-mail confirmations no courier arrived. I was quite upset with this, having taken the day off work. Any way I spoke to watford and a courier was rearranged for 2 days later. I again took the day off work, I received e-mail and verbal confirmations that the courier was booked, and once again no-one turned up. The following day was a saturday, so I went to watford hq (in Luton) and returned the unit in person. As I do not drive this cost me circa £60 in taxi/train and tube fares from London. I told their staff I wanted a refund and that I didn't want anything else to do with them. I was given an acknowledgement slip for the returned item, but it was not formally 'registered as returned' and a refund issued for some weeks later, well in excess of 30 days after I returned the item.

Since then (April) I have been in constant contact with peter hills (customer service ?? manager) regarding reimbursemment of my travel costs. In August this year we agreed that I would settle for £20 compensation - I was told that I should have the money within 1 week. 3 weeks later and I received precisely nothing.

In total I estimate that I have sent in the region of 50 e-mails to watford. Most of the time they will not respond.
My advice is to keep e-mailing them, every day if necessary. Once you give up, they have won. Do not give up, because that is what they want.

E-mail peter.hills@watford.co.uk until you receive a response. Never believe a word they tell you and most importantly never give up.

Join the club. It was a Motherboard I had trouble with. See my e-mail.
Now if you dig into "Watford Electronice" at some point you will come
across "Watford Electronics Training" in some way connected to the
Government. (May be that is why nowbody has got them shut down).
I also wonder if the products they are selling, are from the training
site. This could account for all the faulty stock that is offered to
the public. All I received from them, came in plain cardboard cartons.
Just an idea- We all should get together sign a petition send it to
FAST (copyright group) stating -"If nothing is done to get companies
like this to clean up their act, we all going to send out pirated
programs". Makes me feel that way.
